Peripheral Nerve Responses to Muscle Stretching: A Systematic Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Stretching is commonly used to increase range of motion and flexibility. Therefore, investigations are usually oriented towards the muscle-tendon unit. Limited evidence exists regarding potential effects stretching on peripheral nerves which lie within muscles. The objective this investigation will be elucidate responses stretching. A literature search was performed using following databases: Scopus, NLM Pubmed ScienceDirect. Studies protocols were retrieved for investigation. NHLBI tool quality assessment. Outcomes included nerve stiffness, displacement, pain pressure thresholds resistive torque. total 10 studies considered eligible in assessment revealed an overall “fair good” methodological across studies. All except one involved healthy participants. High heterogeneity retrieved. As a consequence stretching, stiffness (-15.6%) (-1.9kg) decreased. Nerve displacements each movement plane all deformation also frequently observed. Peripheral muscle include decreased thresholds. displacement occurs. It still unclear if reduced may lead clinical outcomes. There lack longitudinal adaptations

Responses of Muscle Mitochondrial Function to Physical Activity: A Literature Review

Skeletal muscles play an active role in regulating the metabolic homeostasis through their ability for relating to adipose tissue and endocrine hormones. Contraction of the skeletal muscle leads to increased release of several myokines, such as irisin, which is able to interact with the adipose tissue. Physical activity promotes the irisin mechanism by augmenting the peroxisomes (PGC1-α) in the...

peripheral nerve injury: a review article

traumatic peripheral nerve injuries are among most important cause of physical disability among young adults. most partial injuries and some complete injuries recover without operative intervention, with early return of function appearing to be the most significant prognostic factor in these cases. return of function over time depends to a great extent on the underlying neuropathologic conditio...

Advances of Peripheral Nerve Repair Techniques to Improve Hand Function: A Systematic Review of Literature

Concepts of neuronal damage and repair date back to ancient times. The research in this topic has been growing ever since and numerous nerve repair techniques have evolved throughout the years. Due to our greater understanding of nerve injuries and repair we now distinguish between central and peripheral nervous system. In this review, we have chosen to concentrate on peripheral nerve injuries ...
